MISSIONS TO BELIZE
Monthly Newsletter For Missions To Belize
                                                      SHIP AHOY!
Our first shipment of supplies is on its way to Belize. With the help of a lot of people, our first attempt
was very successful. We sent 2000 toothbrushes, 2000 tubes of toothpaste, six boxes of medical
supplies, a portable dental chair and light, and 23 boxes of books (2100) total.
Just to let you know where your donations went, we broke the cost of this shipment down to the
following areas.
Toothbrushes – $200
Toothpaste – $300
Medical Supplies and dental chair/light – $2750
Shipping – $1100
Boxes, labels, packaging – $200
Total – $4550

Everything is in place for our missionary trip in June. We will spend two weeks with the officials of
Catholic Schools and with the children trying to ascertain their medical and dental needs. We also
plan to work with the school officials in developing a long term plan. This involves basic lodging and
care for any future missionary trips. We have had many of you show an interest in joining us on these
future trips. This will be foremost on our minds as we discuss our long term plans with the school
officials in Belize. Please pray for our upcoming trip.*

                    THE VISION OF CORNELIUS
At Cornelius’ House Ministries our vision is to bring the
Kingdom of God to this earth. This was the mission of our
Lord Jesus. “I must preach the Kingdom of God to other
cities; for this reason I am sent” – Luke 4:43.
In Matthew 6:33, Jesus tells us to seek first the Kingdom of
God and His righteousness. Our goal is to obey His words.
To us, seeking the Kingdom means seeking the things of the
Father and we know that the welfare of His children is His
primary concern. When the Father asked us to make contact
with Belize, we were not even thinking in that direction. But,
in obedience to the Holy Spirit we began to consider the
country of Belize. Door after door opened as we pursued this
endeavor and with the favor of God we have become very
good e-mail friends with the Catholic School officials in
Belize.
We knew from the start that this project was bigger than any
one of us could handle, but others have understood our vision
and have joined us in trying to help the children and country
of Belize. These people are God’s children too and therefore
our brothers and sisters. They may not be important to
everyone, but they are important to God and if we are to be
about the Father’s business His concerns must become our
concerns.
We are always looking for people who want to help those
less fortunate than us here in the good ole US of A. We need
volunteers to help us get shipments ready as well as those
who would like to donate to our vision or become a monthly
partner. Every penny donated to this Vision goes to help the
children of Belize. If you would like to volunteer or if you
would like to donate or become a partner call us here at the
ministry 870-892-9473.*
                   FRP

Cornelius’ House Ministries has
joined forces with FRP for our
Missions to Belize. FRP is First
Response Physicians and was
founded by Dr. Drew Dawson and
his wife Denise. Dr. Chris
Montgomery and his wife Cassy,
and Dr. Tommy Wagner.
The non-profit organization began
as a first response to Hurricane
Katrina where Dr. Dawson spent a
good length of time treating the
victims of the hurricane who had
been forced to leave their homes.
Since that horrible time, they have
made numerous trips to assist the
people in Bay St. Louis,
Mississippi.
Dr. Drew and Denise will head the
medical division of our Missions to
Belize project. We look forward to
a long and productive relationship
with FRP as the Missions to Belize
grows and develops.*

    Why A Newsletter?

We started a newsletter to keep our
partners and donors informed of
what was happening with Missions
To Belize.  We want you to know
that we are being good stewards of
your support. We have very big
plans with this mission and as time
goes on we will share many of the
plans with you. Right now our
focus is on the June trip and
gathering information from the
officials in Belize so that we can
better serve the needs of the
children. Please put our trip on
your prayer list. Pray that we will
fulfill every part of the plan that the
Holy Spirit has for us.*
      BOOKS FOR BELIZE
We wanted to let everyone know
that The Books To Belize part of
Missions To Belize is a permanent
project. In our first shipment we
sent over 2100 books to the children,
but we hope this is only the tip of
the iceberg. The Catholic Public
School System is trying to provide a
twenty minute period each day for
the children to have individual
reading, but they don’t have enough
books. We are trying to service
33,000 children, so as you can see
we need a lot more books. If you
happen to be at a yard sale where
they are selling books, keep us in
mind. Remember the books need to
be on the 8th grade reading level or
below. We have also sent the
children encyclopedias and
Childcraft books. They’ll accept
about all kinds except text books.
The books can be dropped off at St.
Paul’s Rectory, the Prayer Chapel or
Family Dental Care.
If you have a friend or relative that
would like to do a Books For Belize
drive in their church or parish we
will be glad to assist them with
information materials and we’ll
arrange to pick up the books. Have
them contact us here at the ministry.
Also if you know anyone connected
with a library or school system let us
know and we’ll send them a letter
letting them know that we need any
books they don’t need or want.
Everyone has a few books lying
around the house that are no longer
needed. Those books in the hands of
the children in Belize can help bring
education and a whole new way of
life. Also, we place a sticker in every
book that let’s them know who gave
them the book. It’s our way of
letting them
know that we care and that we want
to help. What seems so insignificant
and small to us goes a long way
with these children. We live in a
country that has been very blessed.
Very few people in the world live
as well as we do and every time we
help another person or children in
another country it helps our world
become a better place.*

   WHAT IS A PARTNER?

If you look at the cost of the
shipment just sent to Belize, you
will see a myriad of expenses, and
this is just getting supplies to
Belize. As we started this project,
we knew it would be on-going and
grow in size and responsibility. In
fact, the sky is really the limit in
how we can help these children in
Belize. The main limiting factor is
money. Many people do not realize
that it takes money to spread the
Gospel of Jesus Christ.  Jesus is
striving to build a Kingdom on this
earth and He has handed this
responsibility to us, His children.
This Kingdom will never be built if
His children do not take an active
role and make building the Kingdom
a priority. God has called
Cornelius’ House Ministries to help
build the Kingdom in Belize. We
know it’s a big project, but because
of our confidence in the Holy Spirit
we accepted. We have decided to
make the children of Belize a
priority. To succeed, however, we
need people who will join our
vision and help support us
financially as we manage the
(con’t on next page)
mission in Belize. Our goal is to
have 1000 partners who will
give a minimum of $30 a month for
an extended period of time. This is
what we call a partner. Partners
allow us to plan long term.
Donations are great but we might
have $500 in donations one month
and $20 the next. It is very difficult
to plan any long term budget with
that much unknown in the finances.
Think about it. A 1000 people is
really not a lot of partners; and $30
is not a lot of money. But, together
they provide a considerable amount
of potential.
Come join our vision. Become a
partner; and if you are already a
partner, share our vision with
others and encourage them to also
become a partner. Your thirty
dollars can help change the lives of
a lot of children.
Please know that we appreciate
everything that you give to this
ministry and that we will always
strive to represent you with
integrity.*

Why Missionary Work?

There have been a few of you who
have asked why we are getting into
missionary work. I would like to
share with you our motivation.
Most of you know that we have
been in lay ministry in the Catholic
Church for over twenty years. We
have conducted seminars, retreats,
and workshops on subjects from
inner healing to the power of
prayer. We have assisted other
ministries in praise and worship as
well as leading worship for the
Catholic Charismatic Conference
for many years. We even led a
group of pilgrims to the Holy Land.
About ten years ago I went to
Mexico with Mac and Fay Smith
About ten years ago I went to
Mexico with Mac and Fay Smith on
a missionary trip to some children in
one of the orphanages that was run
by a Protestant group. The poverty
was terrible. We flew in with rice,
beans, and fruits. I will never forget
the look on those kids faces when
we pulled out the oranges. The
children had not eaten in three days.
When we passed out those oranges
it was if we were passing out $100
bills.
While we were there some of the
leaders from the city found out that
we were Catholic and approached us
about starting a Catholic orphanage
for the children of the area. Of
course we all refused. Too busy.
That experience has never left me.
Many times when I sit down to a
wonderful meal I still think about
those kids. Once they warmed up to
us, we couldn’t get away from them.
They wanted us to hold them all the
time. They were so hungry for love.
As I’ve gotten older and grown in
fellowship with the Holy Spirit, I
have come to understand what I
believe is God’s Vision. Some of
you attended the workshop I did at
Church on “Finding Your Purpose
and Destiny Within God’s Vision.”
It is so important to me that it is the
only thing I now teach. Bringing the
Kingdom of God to this earth is
God’s Vision. We express this
Vision every time we pray the “Our
Father.” Implementation of this
Vision, however, has been given to
us, God’s children. In other words,
it is our responsibility. This one
thing has changed my life more than
anything else. As one of God’s
children, I realize that my life should
be about the Father’s business. This
has nothing to do with going to
Church, but has everything to do
with taking care of His children.
Each one of us is being prepared for
Kingship because we are children of
the King, but we are being trained
for that Kingship right now. This
realization has caused many
priorities in my life to change. I now
look at everything through “eternal
eyes.” This means I try to see
everything in relation to eternity.
Jesus was very emphatic about this.
“Lay not up for yourselves
treasures upon earth, where moth
and rust does corrupt, and where
thieves break through and steal; But
lay up for yourselves treasures in
heaven, where neither moth nor rust
does corrupt, and where thieves do
not break through and steal” –
Matthew 6:19-20.
I now know what Jesus was talking
about. Every time we help anyone
out of love and concern for that
person we are storing up treasure in
heaven. Every act of love prepares
us not only for eternity but for
Kingship. “Then shall the King say
unto them on His right hand, Come,
you blessed of my Father, inherit
the Kingdom prepared for you from
the foundation of the world: For I
was hungry and you gave me meat; I
was thirsty and you gave me drink; I
was a stranger and you took me in;
Naked and you clothed me; I was
sick and you visited me: I was in
prison and you came to see me” –
Matthew 25: 34-36 (con’t next page)
Recently I was asked to give the
eulogy at a friend’s funeral. She had
been a major influence in my
spiritual life. She asked to be
cremated and as I watched them
lower the small urn containing her
ashes into the ground, I thought the
sum total of her physical existence
was inside that urn. No houses, no
fine cars, no fancy jewelry, no boats
and four wheelers; just ashes. But
the influence she had on others
could not be contained in that urn.
Only the Kingdom of God would
reveal the impact she had had on
other’s lives. I am only one of
hundreds of others who are better
off because she cared to give of
herself. She was not “too busy.”
The Kingdom of God is all about
giving. Without this principle it
could not exist.
“For God so loved the world that
He gave…”
When Jesus washed the feet of His
disciples, He was saying, “Guys,
this is how my Kingdom works. If
anyone wants to be great in the
Kingdom, let him become the
servant of all.” – Matthew 20:26-
28.
My one regret is that it took me so
long to understand this simple
message. There are so many things
that vie for our time that seem so
important, but through eternal eyes
they are but dust on the pages.
We have been so duped by the evil
one into thinking only of our life in
relation to this physical world, and
we spend so much time working on
“our stuff” that we have very little
time to work on the Kingdom. I
used to spend so much of my time
preparing for retirement,
but God never says anywhere for
His children to retire. We are to
work for the Kingdom until our
destiny has been achieved and our
purpose fulfilled. Just as Luke 4:18-
19  held the key to Jesus’ purpose
and destiny so it holds the key to
ours also. Being about the Father’s
business should be  a major
priority for us all.
When the Lord asked me to
consider Belize, I could have said I’
m too busy, but He had already let
me see the faces of those children
in Mexico years before.
I don’t have a clue what the Father
has in store for us in Belize, but I
know well that we are building the
Kingdom and we may never know
the full impact of our efforts and
our support until we see it through
the eyes of eternity. DFH
